A Prayer for a Society in Turmoil

A Prayer for a Society in Turmoil

My God, My God,

I cry out to you as the world reckons with these trying times. Lord, sometimes, it gets hard to look to the future when everyday brings us intense struggles. We are questioning everything around us and confusion has become our new normal. Sometimes, it is hard to keep the faith in our hearts when our minds are filled with doubt for the future. My God! I cry out to you in the midst of all the troubles we are facing. We are seeing death, disease, and inequalities everywhere and we don’t know where to turn. How do we handle the shaking of the very foundations that we built for ourselves? How can we handle the changes of the plans we made for ourselves? How must we deal with the devil as he pushes us against the wall? What do we do when the tools we created to fight him don’t work? What do we do when things we created crumble and we are left searching for something new? My God! I cry out to you!

Jeremiah 29:11 states:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Hebrews 11: 1-3:

1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

2 This is what the ancients were commended for.

3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Yes, God!

Yes, God! When we doubt our future, when we doubt ourselves, we must put our faith in God; He is the one we should turn to for help. Faith in God and his plans is what will carry us as we traverse through these difficult times. Nothing has been created on this Earth that is hidden from God. He knows what we are facing and His plans for us are never to harm us, but to give us hope for the future. The tools WE made to fight the devil and the plans WE made are not sustainable. You know the saying: one way to make God laugh is to make plans. Even if things do not turn out the way we planned, know that God has something better in store for us. We may not know what it is, but trust that He will not lead us astray as long as we trust and have faith in Him. Now, let’s look to Him for healing and guidance, then, and only then, will we have the strength to stand in this storm.

Jeremiah 17:14:

"Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved; for you are my praise."
